MOTH at MICA
Posted in Uncategorized on November 19, 2009 by bythepoundI haven’t blogged much about it in the past couple months, but during that time I was getting focused and ready for what was to come. Unknowing to me how much of a challenge this would be. But finally…we have MOTH! A short film by Hilton Carter.
Story line: Sophie, a beautiful drug abusing young actress, flies into Los Angeles from New York, for a job. While staying at the home of some family friends, who just happen to be out of town, Sophie finds her boredom and unhappiness to the least of her problems.
Moth is a short film that was initially titled “Man on the Hill” but after further consideration, we decided on Moth. When I speak of “we”, I’m referring to my executive producer, Mr. Penn Badgley, and myself. You might know him as Dan Humphrey from the hit show Gossip Girl or as Michael Harding from the film The Stepfather, but to me he’s the cousin of one of my best friends and also the young kid I met back in 2002, while I was sitting at the dining room table of his aunt’s house eating pancakes. Many meals were shared at that table and of course talks of future projects. And seven years later, here we are.
It took a lot to make this film happen and if it weren’t for the many that helped during the raising money process, the filming process and the post work, it would have never happened. To all of those folks I am truly thankful. Its been a true blessing and a total learning experience from top to bottom.
So with the film on its way to completion, and getting prepped for submission to festivals, we’re having a premiere screening at MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) on Friday December 4th, at 730pm. This is very fitting given I am a MICA alum and it was at MICA that I got my start and found my passion for filmmaking. So for all of those in the Baltimore area, please come out and enjoy this truly amazing experience with us. Hope to see you there.
Thank you!
